What is Padel tennis?

Padel is a racket sport that is played on a smaller court with walls, similar to a combination of tennis and squash. It is played by two teams, each consisting of two players, who hit a ball back and forth over a low net using paddles.

The game is played indoors or outdoors, and the court is slightly smaller and more enclosed than a tennis court. Padel is popular in many countries around the world, particularly in Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

Where can I play Padel?

Padel can be played in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor courts, clubs, and recreational facilities. It is a popular sport in many countries, and as a result, there are many places where it can be played. Some options for playing padel include:

  • Padel clubs: Many communities have padel clubs or facilities that offer courts for players to use. These clubs often have a range of amenities, such as locker rooms, pro shops, and food and beverage services.
  • Recreational facilities: Padel courts may be available at recreational facilities, such as community centres, parks, and schools.
  • Private courts: Some people may choose to build their own padel court on their property or at a private residence.
  • Public courts: Some cities and towns have public padel courts that are available for use by anyone.

It is also possible to play padel as part of a team or league, with organized matches and tournaments taking place at various locations.

Why has Padel become so popular?

Padel has become popular for a number of reasons. One reason is that it is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Padel is also a social sport that can be played with friends or as part of a team, making it a fun activity for people to do together.

Another reason for the popularity of padel is that it is a relatively low-impact sport, which makes it accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Padel is also a versatile sport that can be played indoors or outdoors, and on a variety of surfaces, making it possible to play in a variety of different settings.

In addition, padel is a popular spectator sport, with professional tournaments and leagues attracting large crowds. As the sport has grown in popularity, it has also gained more visibility and media coverage, which has helped to further increase its popularity.

Who are we?

We are a small team of experienced Padel athletes trying to grow the game’s popularity in the UK and help new players with our tips, guides, and personal recommendations.

Our founder, Alfie, has been playing since 2015 after he discovered the game whilst on holiday in Barcelona. He was immediately intrigued and inspired by the game. After then finding out that it was one of the most popular sports in the whole of Spain he became perplexed as to why he’d never heard of it before.

After being invited to play with some locals in Barcelona, Alfie was hooked.

You can then only imagine how disheartened he was to return to the UK with almost no Padel courts in site. So, after joining the nearest Padel club, encouraging a few mates to join him, and testing out all the latest gear and rackets, he went on to create PadelAthletes.

Our team at PadelAthletes regularly try out new Padel products and test them on the courts, we also have branched out to form many partnerships and connections with pros to get their opinions on the latest gear, trends, and tactics so we can share them with you.

Together, we hope to boost Padel’s popularity in the UK and make it a top 4 sport. Our experience watching the game grow rapidly in Europe suggests we’ll get there.
